Turbulence - Lightning Character Sheet

Character designs from my masters film at Bournemouth University, done with the help of Jennifer Routh and Anna Maria Glover.

 

Lightning is the main character of our film, and her design had to reflect her sparky personality as well as suit the range of animation she would have to perform in the finished piece.  From the start, we wanted the difference between Lightning and her sister Thunder to be quite clear, and the first step towards that was size.  Lightning is tiny; zipping from place to place as she wraps herself in electricity and travels in a bolt of energy.

Thunder, to counterpart her sister Lightning, had to be both her little sister's opposite yet similar.  At first my design relied too heavily on human anatomy and gave Thunder either a too motherly or matronly appearance.  After we decided to change gears and try a more otherworldly appearance, we found a more animalistic and graphic design suited what we had envisioned for the character.  She is tall, poised, elegant and quite severe.

Moth Dancer

This character came about from a colour palette I had wanted to draw with.  She's a humanoid dancer and fighter and uses her capelet to distract and disorient her opponents before she strikes.

D&D Draela Character Design

 

Draela, created and played by Shannon Perry, was the halfling Barbarian of our Pathfinder group.  A bit of a powder keg, she can bust you up if you look at her funny, but she's also extremely friendly and likeable.  She's quick to spot anything shiny or pretty and will definitely fight you for it!

I had a bit of a slow period at work between projects so I took some time drawing some of the party members of my pathfinder group.  Draela was probably the best friend of my monk Lali.
